Kia fans may remember the posh Kia Telluride Concept which debuted at the Detroit Auto Show in January. The crossover concept would be the largest and most luxurious SUV in the Kia lineup. Unfortunately, many of the vehicles that we see at auto shows, although exciting to look at, never quite make it to the production stage. But there might be a glimmer of hope for the Telluride!

Kia’s Chief Design Officer, Peter Schreyer revealed at the Paris Motor Show that he has high hopes for the SUV to be approved for production. “The concept has been accepted very well,” Schreyer said. “I think it has a good chance to be developed.” Schreyer also confirmed that the Telluride would be built on existing pieces from Hyundai or Kia, like the chassis from the Kia Sorento and the 3.3L naturally-aspirated V6 Engine from the Kia Cadenza. Schreyer also seemed confident that the Telluride would maintain the concept’s size and proportions. “When we do concepts we always try to do that,” Schreyer said.

If the Telluride does go to production, it would most likely be a 2019 model. We would love to see this vehicle arrive at DELLA Kia! Read our blog for more updates on the Kia Telluride concept.
