Three gas engines are available in the 2018 Optima including a 2.4-liter I-4 with 185 hp and 178 lb-ft of torque, a 1.6-liter turbo-four with 178 hp and 195 lb-ft, and a 2.0-liter turbo-four with 245 hp and 260 lb-ft. A six-speed automatic transmission is paired to the base 2.4-liter I-4 and 2.0-liter turbo-four, while a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic is exclusive to the 1.6-liter turbo-four. EPA fuel economy ratings are 24/34 mpg city/highway for the base 2.4-liter in LX and EX trims, 28/37 mpg for the LX 1.6T and 22/31 mpg for the SX Turbo. Trunk space in the 2018 Optima is 15.9 cubic feet and can be expanded via the 60/40 split-folding rear seats.
