2017 Kia Cadenza Named Large Sedan of the Year

2017 Cadenza
The 2017 Kia Cadenza may just be arriving in showrooms, but it is already racking up the awards! Last week, the all-new Cadenza was recognized at the Hispanic Motor Press Awards® as one of the best vehicles for Latino families! Over 100 vehicles were considered based on availability, affordability, and test drives, where the judges considered design, comfort, safety, performance, functionality, and overall value. At the end of the vetting process, only three vehicles were chosen as the best for Hispanic families.
“The ‘New Kia’ is world-class by every measure, and the all-new Cadenza is our latest model to be honored with a coveted Hispanic Motor Press Award,” said Michael Sprague, chief operating officer and EVP, KMA. “The Cadenza injects a much-needed shot of excitement to the large-car segment with its striking, aggressively handsome looks and premium refinements, and Kia is honored to be named among the best choices for Latino families.”

Daylight Savings Driving Tips
Nothing says winter is right around the corner like Daylight Savings. While that extra hour of sleep was nice, the early darkness is a little bit more difficult to get used to. If you live in Plattsburgh, NY; Burlington, VT; Lake Placid, Malone, or Queensbury, NY, you’re probably driving home from work while the sun is almost down, or even worse, completely gone. The dark commute home may take some getting used to, which is why DELLA Kia has six tips for safe driving in the dark.
- Avoid Lighting Distractions: Lighting distractions can momentarily blind or compromise your forward vision, and as we all know, it only takes a split second for an accident to happen. Try to avoid looking at oncoming headlights and keep your instrument panel and dashboard lights dim.
- Scan the Road: When the sun goes down, our depth perception is less accurate. Trying not to focus on a single point while driving will help this, as well as prevent your eyes from becoming dry and tired from concentrating.
- Aim Headlights: Believe it or not, your headlights could be aligned incorrectly. Aiming them properly will allow you to see directly in front of you and avoid blinding other drivers.
- Leave Some Room: We know you’re in a rush to get home, but it’s always a good idea to leave a little extra room this time of year. You might be a pro at driving at night, but the person in front of you may not be so skilled. Your distance will allow extra braking time if they don’t see something until last minute or an animal jumps out in the road.
- Clean Your Windshield: While your windshield might look pretty clean during the day, but once the sun goes down, any smudges or streaks can rear their ugly head. This adds to the glare of oncoming headlights and visibility issues, so be sure to wipe the inside of your windshield. We suggest using newspaper!
- Take a Nap: This is by far our favorite suggestion! While it’s only an hour difference, the time change can throw off your body’s circadian rhythm. If you are feeling tired, find a safe place to park and take a quick snooze before getting on the road.

2016 Soul

2017 Cadenza
The 13th Annual Active Lifestyle Vehicle of the Year awards were recently held in Arizona, and for the fifth year in a row, the Kia Soul was chosen as a winner, along with the all-new 2017 Kia Cadenza. The awards recognize vehicles well-suited for outdoor activities and those who enjoy them based on evaluations by automotive journalists and local athletes. Using criteria such as design, power, efficiency, and cargo capability, the panel of judges chose Soul as urban category winner, while the Cadenza clenched the full-sized sedan segment.
“Winning the Active Lifestyle Vehicle award for the fifth consecutive year is a clear indication that the Soul makes a great companion for urbanites who are constantly on the go,” said Orth Hedrick, vice president of product planning, KMA. “Its unique combination of style, fun-to-drive attitude, extensive feature content, and practicality make the Soul a crowd favorite, while the Cadenza’s upscale design, ample interior, and advanced convenience features make it a fierce competitor in the full-size sedan segment.”

Spelling.

Spooky Plattsburgh Road Trip
It’s finally Halloweekend! We know you might be heading out to a Halloween party or hayride, but if you haven’t yet made plans, DELLA Kia has put together a special treat for you. All you need is your New Kia from DELLA Kia and a sense of adventure! Below is our list of scariest places to visit around Plattsburgh, NY; Burlington, VT; Lake Placid, Malone, and Queensbury, NY. Grab your friends and family and head out for this haunted road trip!
Our first stop on the list is none other than our very own SUNY Plattsburgh Macdonough Hall in Plattsburgh, NY. You’ve probably heard about some of the strange things that have occurred in this dorm over the years. Residents have reported a number of strange occurrences including toilets flushing, radios, alarms, and lights turning on for no reason. Some people have even claimed to see ghosts roaming the halls, and explain the connect by the fact that the hall was built on marshland. During its construction, the remains of a woman along with her gravestone were found.
If you love legends and folklore, you’re going to love this next stop. St. Albans, VT is home to the St. Albans Bay State Park where ghost pirates have been spotted traveling on a phantom ship. The pirates, who are allegedly searching for Champ, the legendary creature who lives in the bay, often call out to nearby fishermen.
Next up is the Gold Brook Covered Bridge in Stowe, VT, also known as“Emily’s Bridge. ” There are multiple stories of how Emily did. Some say she hung herself from the rafter after her fiance didn’t show up for their elopement, while others believe she was run over by horses. The truth remains to be uncovered, but one thing is for sure, Emily’s spirit lives on. Visitors have heard screams and scratching, and some have even reported seeing her walking about.
Now is the perfect time to head over to American Flatbread in Burlington, VT for a bite to eat. While you’re chowing down, you can chat about how this was previously called Carbus Restaurant, and a former employee killed himself in the basement. Yummy! The basement is apparently still haunted, and employees are warned to enter at their own risk. Several employees have been locked in the walk-in freezer, which can slam shut with no explanation at all.
For your final stop, head over to the Plattsburgh Airforce Base, which is both haunting and historic! Ghost children along with a soldier from the Revolutionary War and a lady in white have been spotted multiple times on the grounds. You can also check out the Old Gym, which was used as a morgue during the war. Visitors have heard screaming and pounding at the location. There’s even a red basement, which is said to be painted that color to cover up blood stains.

Warranties include 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain and 5-year/60,000-mile basic. All warranties and roadside assistance are limited. See retailer for warranty details.
